Serving the needs of the community, we have often times heard the visitors say they could feel our love, concern and compassion.
For 35 years, Bishop Jeryl Ross has served as the Senior Pastor and Founder at Word of Life Outreach Ministries in the city of Palmdale, California. Endeavoring to do the will of God, Bishop Ross is “The” beacon of the Antelope Valley. His mantra remains to be “Meeting the needs of the total man, Mind, Body, and Spirit”.
Elect Lady Alice Ross, is called to show love to the body of Christ, and support her husband in family and ministry. The One and Only maestro himself Erwin Bryant returns his musical talents back to the Lord as head deacon and musician. Prepare to enter the “Holy of Holy’s accompanied by his God given musical talents. Deacon Bryant can be found in and around the House of the Lord any day of the week routinely attending to the sanctuary, even teaching Christian Education.
A warm smile and a friendly hello await everyone as Sis Arnetta Grays is always delighted to greet parishioners entering the sanctuary at the hour of worship.
The Lord has done just that. Word of Life has established and maintained a “Good name” in the Antelope Valley, having a good working relationship with many city officials, developing personal relationships with the common goal of serving our community. Such service to the community came through programs such as collaboration with Southern California Edison that provided monetary assistance. In the neighborhood he is known as “Pastor Ross” or just “Rev.”, but God has given him favor in and amongst the people. The council of our Pastor naturally and spiritually is sought after throughout the greater Antelope Valley area.
The church was founded thirty-five years ago on Sunday February 4, 1989. Our Pastor, Elder Jeryl Ross was installed by the late Bishop, Robert W. McMurray, as Pastor of Word of Life Apostolic Church. (“A Beacon in the Antelope Valley”) and so began the mission to meet the needs of the total man, body, soul and spirit. Our first Lady reminds us to never despise the days of small things and the only small thing about Sixth Street, where we started, was the size of our sanctuary. Our worship was authentic, the power of God filled the house, and many people came to know Christ. In the beginning we learned how to effectively minister with excellence; we honored Seniors, Veterans and other well deserving members of “Our Community,"
There are active ministries functioning today that were birthed on Sixth Street such as Christian Education, Music Ministry, Women’s Ministry, and the Youth Department. We were blessed to have, bible bowls, fashion shows, foreign missions projects, teen conventions, as well as highly anointed preachings and revivals.
